JANUARY BOARD MEETING
The first board meeting was held Saturday January 19, 10 am, at Panera Bread. We have came up with lots of new ideas and activities, We hope everyone will find something that interests them and that they will enjoy. I know this guild and other guilds I have been in have lost members, because they felt they didn’t have the time to do everything! Please, remember we do not expect every one to do every activity we present. I am looking forward to being president this year and hope to not make too many blunders. (I am just your basic middle age human, bear with me.) Call me if there is any thing that needs to be addressed or you would like to have considered. The January 28 meeting will be at 6:30 PM at Maplewood Retirement Center, RT 50, Bridgeport WV 26330. Refreshments will be provided by Patsy Glotfelty and Tana Hall.
Our program this month is “Book Reviews by You”! That’s right, if you have a new or old quilt book that you like or hate, we would like you to take a minute or two to share with us.
Don’t forget to bring back your sewn together strips, if you were at the December meeting and took a packet to sew for the National Quilt Day baby quilt.
MEMBERSHIP - DUES ARE DUE
Remember dues are due again. Our year runs from January 1 - December 31.
If your address, phone number, or email address has changed lately, let Pat know when you pay your 2008 dues.
MAPLEWOOD
We usually give or do something for the residents of Maplewood as a Thank You for allowing us to meet there each month. This year, we provided appetizers for their TGIF party on December 7. Thanks goes to: Betty Bond, Sandy Ashcraft, Pat Gray, Karen Betler, Eleanor MacLean and Sue Leenders, for providing the appetizers
QUILT SHOW
Tana Hall is our 2008 Quilt Show Chairman. Anyone who is interested in retaining her present committee role or volunteering to help with the quilt show, please contact Tana. Dates for the next quilt show is: July 11 & 12, 2008. Pat Gray and Dorothy Swick are in charge of the next raffle quilt.
FAT QUARTER DRAWING
The theme for January is: cold crisp snowy winter fabric. Please bring two fat quarters - one for the 2008 Quilt Show basket and one for the drawing. The theme for December was Christmas prints. The winner was Dottie Mitchell was the winner.
MONTHLY DOOR PRIZE
If it's your birthday month, you bring a door prize worth not less than $5.00 and no more than $10.00. For example if you have a July birthday you bring a door prize to the July meeting. If we have three people bringing prizes we will have three drawings. The door prizes may be purchased or you can go through your sewing room (or chocolate) stash and put together a "goodie bag" of whatever. Please wrap them or put them in a bag.
BLOCK OF THE MONTH
We started the Block of the Month in February 2007. This project will run for twenty months. A twelve inch finished size block was decided on. In other words we will be making twelve and a half inch blocks each month, and we will each keep our own blocks to make into a quilt. If you have missed a block Patsy Glotfelty will have extra copies of the patterns.

Remember to wear your name tag for the name tag drawing.

If you have anything you would like put in the newsletter, send it to me by the Friday a week before the monthly meeting. If you can email the information to me it makes my life a lot easier, as I will not have to retype several pages of information word for word.

$750 Cash prize, provided by the American Quilter’s Society.
