JUNE GUILD MEETING

The June 25 meeting at 6:30 PM at Maplewood.
Refreshments will be furnished by Mary Lanham, Rita Miles and Judy Osborn.
The program on: 3-D Piecing has been cancelled.
The Quilt Show Committee will update us on our quilt show, as the show is in less than two weeks.

Check your schedule and see what days and times

you can help with the quilt show and state meeting.

2006 QUILT RAFFLE TICKETS

Please, turn in your money, ticket stubs and left over un-sold tickets to Patsy, at the June meeting.

QUILT SHOW

Please submit your entry forms by the next meeting date to allow for information to be included in the program to: Karen Betler 622-3274 or Becky Forinash 624-7167.
If you have your "story" about your quilt ready, and can e-mail it, please send it to Dorothy Swick at swickd@uhcwv.org.

It is better to have the information early, even if you don't get a quilt ready, and we have to pull the entry form. That is so-o-o-o-o much easier than trying to add things in at the last minute.

Quilts should be brought to the Bridgeport High School July 4 between 5 and 8 pm.

We will be hosting the WV state guild meeting on July 7, 2007. We will need to provide light refreshments following the meeting. Classes and lectures during will by given by Carole Nicholas and Barbara Hollinger from Jenny Beyer's Studio .

Information on the quilt show and state meeting, is available on our website.

FORT NEW SALEM

Helen Jones has asked us to make a quilt top for Fort New Salem. The backing and batting have been donated. She is willing to help with the expenses of fabric for the top She would like a traditional quilt. She will have someone machine quilt it. The quilt would be auctioned on the Fort's web site. Membership voted to do the quilt top at the May meeting. We will have more details later on.

FAT QUARTERS

Bring two fat quarters to the guild meeting. The guild is putting together a basket of fat quarters to be used at the next quilt show. Pat Gray will be making the basket. Please, bring one quilt shop quality; fat quarter each month for the Quilt Show Basket Of Fat Quarters. Please make sure that your fat quarters measure 18 X 22.

Bring another fat quarter, we will also be having a monthly drawing for fat quarters. For example if you have a March birthday you bring a door prize to the March meeting. If we have three people bringing prizes we will have three drawings. The door prizes may be purchased or you can go through your sewing room (or chocolate) stash and put together a "goodie bag" of whatever. Please wrap them or put them in a bagSarah Jones had a birthday in May and brought the door prize. The door prize winner was Judy Osborn.

BLOCK OF THE MONTH

April and May's blocks were both passed out at the May meeting. April's block was the String Block, furnished by Dora Lang. The String Block can be found at: http://quilting.about.com/od/quiltpatternsprojects/ss/string_piecing_7.htm

May's block was the Lady of the Lake 2, furnished by Eleanor MacLean. The Lady of the Lake block can be found at: http://www.quilterscache.com/L/LadyoftheLake2Block.html

We started the Block of the Month in February. This project will run for twenty months. A twelve inch finished size block was decided on. In other words we will be making twelve and a half inch blocks each month, and we will each keep our own blocks to make into a quilt. If you missed a block Patsy Glotfelty will have extra copies of the patterns.

OCTOBER AUCTION
In October will invite the public to an auction. You can bring other handcrafted items such as baskets, knitted items, and woodwork items as well as quilt and sewing projects to be auctioned off.
