MAY MEETING 
The May 19 meeting, which is a week earlier than usual due to Memorial Day, will be at 6:30 PM at Maplewood Retirement Center, RT 50, Bridgeport WV 26330.  The program will be on the Hoffman Challenge Quilts,  that will be on display at the quilt show.  Refreshments will be provided by:  Sarah Jones and Becky Smolski .

Directions to Maplewood Retirement Center:  RT 50 alternatives: RT 50 East to Oliverio's. Turn left at stop light onto 131, which will take you to the junction with 279 to RT 50. Turn right at onto 50. C
continue to Maplewood, which will be on the left.
Also, RT 79 North to Jerry Dove Drive. Turn right from the exit ramp - that is RT 279. Take to RT 50, turn right onto 50 and continue to Maplewood, which is on the left side of the road.

JUNE BOARD MEETING
The next board meeting will be June 14, 10 am at Panera Bread on Emily Drive.  If you have something to address at the board meeting, everyone is welcome to attend.  If you are unable to attend, please, email or phone me with the information or your report.  

QUILT SHOW
Tana Hall is our 2008 Quilt Show Chairman. Dates for the next quilt show is:  July 11 & 12, 2008.  Karen Montgomery will be offering 2 half-day workshops and 2 lectures.  We have nine confirmed vendors.  Additional information on registration, vendors, possibly an appraiser, classes and lectures will be on our website as soon as we finalize everything.  The boutique table will return to the show this year.  In addition to any items you would like to make, we would like to have items cleaned out of you sewing room.  Items similar to the items offered at the silent auction, old quilting magazines, books, U.F.O.s and other quilting oriented items that are in your way.  

COOKBOOK
Our cookbook recipes went to be printer, Monday the 12th. We will have the cookbook in time for the Quilt Show.  Be thinking how many you need to buy for Christmas presents.

RAFFLE QUILT
Patsy Glotfelty is in charge of the raffle tickets, please, see Patsy to turn in any money for tickets that you have sold or if you need additional tickets. The current raffle quilt has been named:  Millennium Civil War Sampler.  The quilt is currently on display at Classic Quilt Shop,  raffle tickets are, also, available there for purchase.  In June the quilt will be on display at the Columbus, Ohio Quilt Show.

FAT QUARTER DRAWING
The theme for May is:  Batik‘s.  Please bring two fat quarters - one for the 2008 Quilt Show basket and one for the drawing.  The theme for April was:  spring florals, won by Eleanor MacLean.

MONTHLY DOOR PRIZE
If it's your birthday month, you bring a door prize worth not less than $5.00 and no more than $10.00.  For example if you have a July birthday you bring a door prize to the July meeting. If we have three people bringing prizes we will have three drawings.  The door prizes may be purchased or you can go through your sewing room (or chocolate) stash and put together a "goodie bag" of whatever.  Please, wrap them or place them in a bag. Door prizes were brought by:  Pat Reasinger.  Door prize were won by:  Alaina Jones.

NAME TAG
Remember to wear your name tag for the name tag drawing. If you forget your name tag you put a quarter in the bag, when it come around.  The winner can usually afford to buy at least a couple yards of fabric at the end of the year, when we have the name tag drawing.  

BLOCK OF THE MONTH
We started the Block of the Month in February 2007. This project will run for twenty months. A twelve inch finished size block was decided on. In other words we will be making twelve and a half inch blocks each month, and we will each keep our own blocks to make into a quilt. Pat Gray brought the star pattern that is in the next raffle quilt.  If you have missed a block Patsy Glotfelty will have extra copies of the patterns.

PAT SLOAN TRUNK SHOW & WORKSHOP
We are finalizing thing with Pat Sloan for October 12 & 13, for her Trunk Show and the following day - her workshop: “Wild and Free Appliqué.  Pat’s lecture will be held at Maplewood, in our regular meeting room.  Duff Avenue Methodist Church, in Clarksburg, has been reserved for the workshop.

MEMBERSHIP
Membership is only $12.00 per year. Our year runs from January 1 - December 31.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Delicious Apple Pudding
1/2 cup butter, melted
3/4 cup white sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 cups chopped apples, peeled first
1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Preheat oven to 375. In a small bowl combine butter, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and milk until smooth.
In a small saucepan, combine apples, cinnamon and nutmeg and cook on low heat to just soften the apples. Pour apple mixture into the batter.
Bake in pre-heated oven for 30 minutes or until golden.
Serve with a scoop of ice cream and watch them swoon.
